Postage and Packing Information:
Here at Manifesta Distro, we calculate the postage manually. So, when you place your order, let us know your address so we can work out how much it will cost to post your order to you! So please wait until we confirm the p&p before you send us your money.
We accept:
1. Concealed cash (UK currency, taping any loose coins between two pieces of card, before putting them in the envelope),
2. Paypal, using the email address manifestadistroATgmail.com
Paypal Guidelines for UK customers:
We are happy to accept payments by paypal, but so that we don't have to charge you extra paypal fees, please follow these steps...
1.Once logged into paypal, enter the address to send money to, which is manifestadistroATgmail.com (not googlemail, confusingly!)
2.Don't select the purchase box, but rather the personal box.
3.Then select personal payment owed (this is to avoid being charged a service fee)
4.Enter the amount you owe us in GBP, including p&p (we will let you know what this comes to, check with us before sending any money)
5.Send!
Paypal Guidelines for all other customers:
Unfortunately there isn't an option to sidestep paypal charges for non-UK payments, so we add a 50p charge to your order to help cover it. Sorry folks!
Frequently Asked Questions:
- Q:What is "Manifesta"?
- Manifesta is a collective of ladies, grrrls, gentlemen, women, bois, and queers based in Leeds, UK. We aim to create supportive spaces for the self-expression of people of all genders and sexualities through art, music and culture. Manifesta seeks to challenge sexist, homophobic, and transphobic attitudes through the DIY organisation and promotion of inclusive music events. We also have a distro, which is here!
- Q:What is a "distro"?
- A:The word distro comes from "distribution", and a distro is a means of distributing items and ideas. For the manifesta distro, this means having a website, and also having a table-top stalls at events like gigs and clubnights. This distro specialises in zines, but occasionally also stocks DIY music and crafts.
- Q:What does "not-for-proft" mean in the case of this distro?
- A:It means that the distro does not exist to make money for a person/group. The idea is to make zines and other diy goods available to as many people as possible, as cheaply as possible. Any money that is generated is put back into the distro, to buy new stock and cover running costs.
- Q:How long will it take to process my order?
- A:This varies. Sometimes we're incredibly efficient and it only takes a few days from getting an order to sending it out, sometimes it takes a little while longer. This is a project we do in our spare time, for our love of zines! If you are worried about what has happened to your order, and it's been quite a while, just send a friendly email and we will let you know what's going on.
- Q:Do you accept international orders?
- A:Yes!
- Q:Will you stock my zine?
- A:The distro accepts submissions, and looking at our catalogue will give you an idea of the sort of things we are likely to accept. We like to see a sample copy of a zine before agreeing to stock it, so whilst unsolicited submissions are accepted, it's best to get in touch first. We especially welcome submissions from self-identified women & queers!
Generally speaking, we stock items on a "sale or return" basis. This means you give us (x) amount of the zine, and after an agreed time period (ie 6 months) we give you the money for the ones we have sold, and return any unsold stock (or decide to keep it for another six months). Or alternatively, you can choose items from our catalogue to the value of the money owed, if you prefer.
(We are not accepting music or craft submissions for the time being)
